October is over?
Okay but seriously where did October go and why does it feel like it lasted a day long?
Hi you guys!!
First of all, thank you for your overwhelming response to my first newsletter, it filled my heart with joy! Alsooo,
This show recommendation by Ekata really spoke to me:
One Day At A Time (4 seasons, seasons 1-3 are on Netflix)
Ekata says “It is one of the most wholesome comedies I have ever seen. A++ for the excellent queer and Latinx representation. It taught me more about feminism than a lot of academic books I've read and I keep going back to it in times of distress.”
I am sold, thank you Ekata!
Let’s dive into how October was like for Adah
In three words?
Struggles & tears
The entire month was me hassling my artisans to get the festive fabrics ready but the monsoon refused to budge and when it did, in a hurry the borders came out wrong, the print smudged because the air wasn’t dry enough and then the courier company refused to cooperate and deliver the fabrics on time and when it finally arrived, the dupattas were missing!!! Welcome to the joy of running a clothing brand, it sucks and I love it!
Am I famous now?
Nah, not really. Ngl it was just “chaar din ki chandni” but it was fun nonetheless
In case you’re thinking I am delusional, I really did go viral for a day!
In case you’re wondering if this helped Adah in any way, unfortunately, it didn’t :( but everything is not about Adah na (or is it)
Say hello to Geeta ji and Seema ji
We have new wonder women in our team now! They will be using our leftover fabric to make more zero-waste products so we can keep making them for all of you. They made their first samples and they were perfect!!
We give them a bag of leftover fabrics which they assort and segregate and according to the size of the fabric make scrunchies, cushion covers, or headbands out of them! They are so happy that they can work from home and have freedom over their time now!
I took a break
I went for a small trip at the beginning of October, I was completely off work, and for the first time in three years, things didn’t come to a halt and there was no mess up while I was away. Looks like we’re growing and our processes are in place now :)
Oh but I missed my flight, when I rebooked it, the second flight got so delayed that I had to cancel it, and then finally after a lot of crying and using all my air miles I made it to Goa on my third flight.
Our handspun cotton pants have become my go-to for everything, they’re so comfortable and so versatile. I have got them in three colors and have forgotten what denim are!
I have been looking to buy well-fitted, comfortable denim shorts but I couldn’t find any Indian brands selling nice designs, if you know any let me know?
Also if you are looking for local/sustainable alternatives for anything in life, reply to this mail and we can ask our entire community and get you good options to choose from :) I have discovered some amazing products here that we have already gathered over time, if you’d like to know anything else just hit me up!
Until next time, and yes before you ask our festive collection is PAKKKA coming out this week. We’re still waiting for our final two fabrics to arrive and then we RELEASEEE! The wait is killing me now!
But we have released the menswear festive section, 4 beautiful handloom kurtas, limited pieces!
