Well, that’s the privilege I enjoy, working for myself and on my own terms: I can send my newsletter 6 days late and I know the world will not come to an end.
This year’s motto is to take it easy, relax a little, breathe a lot because I pretty much forgot to do all of this all of last year!
December is the happiest month at Adah, let me tell you why!
WE MET Y’ALL!!
We finally did three offline events, two in Bombay and one in Bangalore and so many of you showed up just to meet us! Few of you also wore Adah and showed up. I can’t even begin to explain how nice that feels, it truly fills my heart with joy!
Our Bangalore event was a complete hit and the Mumbai events were pretty decent too!
If you’re a niche category brand especially in the food space, you should try doing an event with MCOT by Rosemary.
For Mumbai brands, Fleaing is a recent concept started by Pritika who is so honest and hard-working, if you’re a small business with a cheaper price range of fun products, you must participate in one of her events.
Apart from that, this is a general guideline that has worked for me to decide which event I should participate in and events I should avoid. It’s also a matter of luck, a lot of luck!
I graduated from Stoa
6 months ago, I got a 100% scholarship to Stoa School, an alternative to your traditional MBA and it changed my life in the most wonderful ways.
I made new friends, I got a better understanding of businesses, a better vision for Adah and for myself, and overall more belief in myself honestly.
They have some scholarships going around and they’re always there to help out and talk to people if you’re interested! Just hit them up and if you want to read more about my journey.
We finally released Elimai!!
HAHAHA, it’s been such a roller coaster with this one and December is a vague time to release such a festive-looking collection but we just had to. Sometimes things don’t work out as planned and you still have to make it work because honestly as a bootstrapped start-up, cash flow becomes more important than timing.
It’s so soft, so beautiful, so easy-breezy, and while I can not stress enough how you need to own at least one of these beauties I can definitely give you a little nudge:
Here’s a 10% off only for our newsletter subscribers to shop these beauties: ELIMAI10 (valid until you receive our next newsletter)
Our sample sale & zero waste products
We did our end-of-the-year sample sale and got sold out, as always :)
Initially, when I’d find a defect on the product, I’d cut the fabric to make our zero-waste products out of it but then I realized the entire effort and labor gone into stitching the garment goes to waste. Two years ago when I had one skirt with a stain, I put it on our IG stories and asked if anyone would be interested in getting it at 50% off and people jumped and fought to get it. That’s when I realized, nobody cares much about the defect if you’re open about it and so we made this entire thing into an annual defect/sample sale and it’s so much fun to interact with people on Instagram and sell products to them. Oh, but it’s so so hectic, we had more than 100 DMs overflowing this time!
We also sold some buntings and cushions, which you can still purchase by messaging us on Instagram or replying to this mail.
I made a personal Instagram
After having a very hectic year, I realized so much of my self-worth is attached to my work. Yes I found Adah and I grew it and I established it but that’s not the only thing I did or I do. All my conversations would be about my work and I felt that’s the only reason people would come and talk to me. That’s why this whole idea of creating a personal-public account came in, I am not going to think too much before posting anything here, just my thoughts, learnings, and feature my cat.
I am also on a hobby finding mode because I realized I have none so if you can suggest something fun that requires minimum effort, feel free to send suggestions. I used to love painting and making handmade gifts but I am not motivated enough to do that anymore, I need something new and exciting. Hopefully new year, new hobbies eh?
I slept for 5 days straight
After finishing the sale period and events, lethargy took over my body and I slept for 5 days straight, the last 5 days of December, and nothing has felt better. I have been constantly told to not treat rest as a reward and I am trying to imply that for the year 2022.
No heavy resolutions this year, no restrictions on myself but just a promise to take it easy and slow, just like the brand!
I’ll see you in February where I am sure we’re all going to collectively wonder about how fast January went by!
